More About Latisse®
How It Works
Researchers developed LATISSE after noticing that eye drops used to treat glaucoma were accelerating the growth of the patients’ eyelashes. The active ingredient in LATISSE, bimatoprost, naturally enhances the amount and thickness of your eyelashes over time.
Tips for Using LATISSE
Make it routine. Keep it with the other skincare products that you use at night.
Keep it clean. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle or the applicator.
Upper lashes only. Blinking for a few seconds naturally transfers drops to the lower lashes.
Be patient. Using LATISSE more than once daily won’t enhance lash growth. Using LATISSE more than once daily won’t enhance
lash growth and can irritate your eyes making them red or itchy.
Don’t double up. If you miss a day, don’t try to make up for it by using LATISSE twice the next day. 1 drop is all that is needed to elicit growth. Overuse can irritate the eyes and even cause mild pigment on the lash bed.
Take selfies. Chart your progress with photos every week.
Starting Your Treatment
If you’ve decided you want longer lashes without the hassle and mess of applying mascara or getting eyelash extensions, your next step is scheduling a consultation at Cosmedica. Dr. Weiglein prescribes LATISSE to patients after a brief consultation, which includes an explanation of how to properly use the product to get the best results. Some medi spa patients interested in rejuvenation of the eyes also schedule a wrinkle smoother injection such as BOTOX® Cosmetic or Nuceiva during the same appointment.
All you have to do is apply LATISSE to the lash line of your upper eyelids using one of the sterile disposable applicators included in the kit. Once you blink a few times, the formula is transferred to the lower lashes. You apply the product before bed each night.
What to Expect
With consistent application, you’ll see longer, thicker eyelashes in about 2 months. You’ll probably even notice an increase in the actual number of lashes. Once you reach this point, you may be able to cut back application of LATISSE to once every other night to maintain your results.
